AQUEOUS CLEANING
Metal Finishing Technologies,
Inc. provides aqueous cleaning for a large number
of base metals. The use of this specialty process
depends upon specific customer and product requirements.
The solutions employed with aqueous cleaning are alkaline
in nature (water based); solvents are not used. Such
chemistries are environmentally friendly upon disposal,
as opposed to solvents.
BEAD BLASTING
The technique of bead blasting
removes oxidation and prepares the part surface for
additional finishing processes. It can also be used
for a decorative matte finish. A variety of blasting
materials are utilized with our manual and automated
equipment including glass, aluminum oxide and plastic
media.
PASSIVATING
The passivation process creates
a chemically inactive surface on metal or alloy parts
which renders them relatively inert when exposed to
air or other oxygen-containing environments. In this
manner, it provides for increased corrosion resistance
of the base metal. Metal Finishing Technologies, Inc.
offers passivation on most types of 300 series stainless
steel to the QQP 35C Type VI specification.
ELECTRO-POLISHING
Electro-polishing can be used
for finishing, machining and surface preparation. As
a metal finish, electro-polishing is less labor intensive
than traditional polishing. The process can also be
used to machine the surface of the product to very close
tolerances and remove burrs, belt lines, scratches and
scales. Finally, electro-polishing prepares the metal
for electroplating and provides a clean base for the
application of decorative finishes.
PLATING & CHROMATING ON ALUMINUM
Aluminum is a material which
is commonly used in part manufacturing due to its
light weight, heat capacity, durability, and corrosion
resistance. However, with these special characteristics,
it requires additional preparation during processing
to ensure plating adherence. Metal Finishing Technologies,
Inc. provides cadmium, copper, electroless and electrolytic
nickel plating on aluminum. A variety of additional
post-plating products which enhance corrosion resistance
are also available.
